TN Promise
Deadlines

Complete and submit 8 hours of community service to tnAchieves.org for the summer 2025 term.
This deadline is only mandatory if you are attending a Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT), South College or William R Moore College of Technology.
If you are attending a community college or 4-year institution, you are only required to meet this deadline if you are planning to enroll during the summer term and you wish to receive TN Promise funding.
NOTE:
You can only complete a maximum of four hours of community service using virtual community service webinars on the tnAchieves website for each deadline. All other hours must be completed in person.
For example, you can view 4 virtual community service webinars on our website and volunteer at your local animal shelter for 4 hours. Or you can spend 6 hours volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and view 2 virtual community service webinars to bring your total hours to 8. You have options!

File the 2025-2026 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at StudentAid.gov.*
Keep in mind, failure to complete these requirements will result in the loss of your TN Promise scholarship eligibility. Once you lose your eligibility, you will not be able to regain TN Promise at a later date.

If you are attending a community college or 4-year institution, you are required to maintain a cumulative 2.0 GPA at the end of each academic year to remain eligible for TN Promise. An academic year is defined as the fall term, spring term and summer term in this order.
If you are attending a Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT), you are required to maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) which is checked at the end of each trimester.

A student may request a medical or personal leave of absence from timely enrollment in the initial semester, full-time attendance or continuous enrollment at an eligible post-secondary institution as long as all other applicable eligibility criteria are met.
In order to complete an appeal prior to initial enrollment, a student must click here for instructions on submitting an appeal.
In order to request a leave of absence after initial enrollment, a student must complete the appeal process as specified by his/her college. In the event an institution denies a student's request for a medical or personal leave of absence, the student may appeal the decision in accordance with the rules found at the previously mentioned link.

Changing Your Institution
If you need to change the college listed on your TSAC Student Portal or FAFSA, you will need to complete the steps outlined below. Having the correct institution listed on your 2024-2025 FAFSA and your TSAC Student Portal will ensure that your scholarships and financial aid are sent to the correct college.
Updating your TSAC Student Portal*
Click here to log into your TSAC Student Portal.
Once you click the link above, enter the username and password you created when you applied for TN Promise.
• If you forgot your username and/or password, click Forgot username or password?
• If you forgot your password, click the Forgot your password?Click here link. Enter your email address, the last four digits of your Social Security Number and your date of birth. Click Submit. A temporary password will be sent to the email address you provided when you applied for TN Promise. The temporary password will expire in one hour. It is suggested that you copy and paste the temporary password from the email into the password field.You may be prompted to answer one of the security questions you chose when you applied for TN Promise. Check the box next to Register this computer to skip this step next time you login from this computer. Click Continue.
The next page will show the image you chose. If it is the correct image, enter your password and click Log In.
Under the Grants and Scholarship Program Information section, you will see Academic Year 2024-2025 as well as a list of program names and the institutions (program names include TSAA Tennessee Grants, HOPE Scholarship, HOPE Access Grant, Wilder-Naifeh Technical Skills Grant, Tennessee Promise).
You will see a Transfer School button for each program. You may click on any button and update the institution which will update all programs.
Select the correct institution from the drop down box. Click Process Transfer Request.
Click on View Financial Summary on the top right hand corner to return to your student portal. You should see that the institution was changed under the Grants and Scholarship Program Information section.
When you are finished, click Log Out. Please keep your username and password for the TSAC Student Portal in a safe place.
If you need help accessing your student account, or if the portal says there is already an account associated with your information, please call the TSAC Helpline at 1-800-342-1663 or email TSAC.AidInfo@tn.gov.
Updating your 2024-2025 FAFSA*
Go to FAFSA.gov and log in using your FSA ID.
Select the submitted 2024-2025 FAFSA Form.
Select the processed 2024-2025 FAFSA submission in the My Activity section.
Select the Add or Remove Schools button.
Search for the school by entering either the school code or the city, state and/or school name and then select Search.
Select the school from the search results. The school's Federal School Code will appear in the form. This means the school has been added.
Submit the update.
Resign and resubmit the 2024-2025 FAFSA form.
IF YOU HAVE CHANGED THE COLLEGE CHOICE ON YOUR FAFSA, YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE YOUR TSAC STUDENT PORTAL IS UPDATED AS WELL.

Your college may require you to complete financial aid verification before awarding your scholarships and financial aid. This process is completed through the financial aid office and often requires that you provide documentation to the college.
We encourage you to connect with your college's financial aid office and keep an eye on your college account for more information regarding verification.

If you plan to transfer to a four-year university after you earn your associate degree, we can help! Our dedicated team of COMPLETE Coaches are here to be a resource for you as you continue your academic journey. To help you get started, we have created a transfer checklist that outlines the general requirements for transferring to a four-year university.
Please note that each institution has its own specific deadlines and requirements. It is critical that you are working closely with your institution and your tnAchieves COMPLETE Coach to ensure you are on track.
Meet with your current college advisor to review class credits and TN Transfer Pathway.
Apply for admission at all 4-year schools that interest you.
Submit unofficial transcript from your community college to your intended 4-year university. A highschool transcript may also be required for admission.
Submit 2025-2026 FAFSA by April 15, 2025.
Apply for scholarships.
Submit official transcript from your community college to your intended 4-year university.
Submit all documents for admission and financial aid to your intended 4-year university.
Review admission decisions and financial aid award packages.
Accept offer and confirm enrollment.
Once admitted, sign up for orientation if applicable.
Register for classes with your advisor at your 4-year university.

EXTERNAL SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
In addition to the federal/state aid you could qualify based on your FAFSA and the institutional aid you could qualify for through your 4-year institution, you can also apply for external scholarships! External scholarships are funds offered by community organizations, businesses, non-profits, and others.

Earn your bachelor’s degree!
It will only take about two more years after you transfer before you can earn your bachelor’s degree. Per Northeastern University, of the 11.6 million jobs created since 2010, over 8.4 million jobs have gone to bachelor’s degree holders. According to Forbes, individuals with a bachelor’s degree were twice as likely to be employed at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic compared to those with some college or only an associate’s degree.

Per the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, individuals with a bachelor’s degree typically earn $19,000 more a year compared to individuals with an associate degree.

By attending a 4-year institution, you have the opportunity to continue to increase your social and cultural experiences on a broader level. The National Student Clearing House Research Center reports that 60% more students were enrolled at a 4-year public university compared to a public 2-year college the spring 2021 semester.
