TN Promise Scholarship Requirement Information

We are excited to continue working with you as you work toward your college degree or credential! We are here to provide you with support and encouragement throughout the college-going process. Remember, although you are now a college student, you are still required to meet TN Promise scholarship requirements to maintain your eligibility!

Please see below for an overview of your upcoming TN Promise scholarship requirements! Additionally, remember to check your email and text messages regularly! We will continue to send you updates to help you stay on track.

FALL 2023

    • Enroll at a TN Promise eligible institution as a full-time student and maintain full-time enrollment every term!
      • If you are enrolled at a community college or a 4-year institution, full-time enrollment is considered at least 12 credit hours. At a Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT), you must be enrolled in a full-time program.
      • You must always be enrolled as a full-time student. If you drop below full-time enrollment at any time, you will become ineligible for the TN Promise scholarship.
    • Complete and submit 8 hours of community service to tnAchieves.org by December 1, 2023 for the spring 2024 term!
      • You can find more information regarding the TN Promise community service requirement by clicking here!
      • NOTE: You can only complete a maximum of four hours of community service using virtual community service webinars on the tnAchieves website for each deadline. All other hours must be completed in person.
        • For example, you can view 4 virtual community service webinars on our website and volunteer at your local animal shelter for 4 hours. Or you can spend 6 hours volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and view 2 virtual community service webinars to bring your total hours to 8. You have options!

*Keep in mind, failure to complete these requirements will result in the loss of your TN Promise scholarship eligibility. Once you lose your eligibility, you will not be able to regain TN Promise at a later date.

APRIL 15, 2024

    • Complete and submit 8 hours of community service to tnAchieves.org for the summer 2024 term!
      • This deadline is only mandatory if you are attending a Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT), South College or William R Moore College of Technology.
      • If you are attending a community college or 4-year institution, you are only required to meet this deadline if you are planning to enroll as a full-time student (12 credit hours) during the summer term and you wish to receive TN Promise funding.
      • NOTE: You can only complete a maximum of four hours of community service using virtual community service webinars on the tnAchieves website for each deadline. All other hours must be completed in person.
        • For example, you can view 4 virtual community service webinars on our website and volunteer at your local animal shelter for 4 hours. Or you can spend 6 hours volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and view 2 virtual community service webinars to bring your total hours to 8. You have options!

MAY 15, 2024

    • File the 2024-2025 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at StudentAid.gov!

*Keep in mind, failure to complete these requirements will result in the loss of your TN Promise scholarship eligibility. Once you lose your eligibility, you will not be able to regain TN Promise at a later date.

JULY 1, 2024

    • Complete and submit 8 hours of community service to tnAchieves.org for the fall 2024 term!
      • You can find more information regarding the TN Promise community service requirement by clicking here!
      • NOTE: You can only complete a maximum of four hours of community service using virtual community service webinars on the tnAchieves website for each deadline. All other hours must be completed in person.

ONGOING REQUIREMENTS:

    • If you are attending a community college or 4-year institution, you are required to maintain a cumulative 2.0 GPA at the end of each academic year to remain eligible for TN Promise. An academic year is defined as the fall term, spring term and summer term in this order.
    • If you are attending a Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT), you are required to maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) which is checked at the end of each trimester.
